Bespoke cladding on this gorgeous DUO Garden Room

Our client in Edinburgh's conservation area wanted a fun Garden Room for their children plus a room for their business which required storage. They had a beautiful garden with endless established trees, shrubs and plants but there was a real need for additional entertaining / work space within the garden. 

During the planning process it was established that the site was in an archeological significant area therefore we had to enlist specialists to create a "watching report". Thankfully, no archeologically significant remains were uncovered so we were good to go! 

The DUO room at 7.2m wide x 4m deep, was split into a garden room with office/store to the front right of the building, behind which we left a void to allow for the pool table to be stacked neatly making the space as flexible as possible.To the front of the void is a small office and store for the family business, accessed via glazed door, also with blinds set within the glass.

Smart lighting and a bespoke electrical system was installed, including ceiling mounted, infrared heaters to maximise wall space, and an alarm system. Blinds are fitted within the glazed panels for added security and light control and our painter worked closely with our client who had created this fabulous, bespoke decor design.

The room will work really well for all the family, when the table tennis table is stacked, the room makes a perfect yoga space for relaxation while the TV with sound system ensures the younger members can hang out without disturbing the household peace!!

Externally, we worked alongside landscaper Richard Irving, who has worked on fabulous projects including Jupiter Artland.

The room features Russwood Abodo® Vulcan Vertical Grain cladding, with a SiOO:X Mid Grey Coating. This premium, visually refined cladding is made from thermally modified Radiata Pine, and offers a sustainable alternative to Western Red Cedar.⁠
As the timber has been heat-treated, this provides enhanced stability and durability, alongside it's refined look. The SiOO:X Mid Grey coating on the Abodo® Vulcan Vertical Grain offers a consistently-weathered look, at an accelerated rate.⁠

To the side of the building, we added a seamless gate to connect the building to the house,the gate was formed from the same cladding as the garden room.

Herringbone style Quick Step Laminate flooring provides an incredibly robust, waterproof flooring for the room bringing the overall vision to life.
