Cladding Options

At Outside In, we use FSC certified thermowood cladding as standard. Thermowood is a Scandinavian softwood that has been thermally modified using just heat and steam. This process causes the structural properties of the wood to change, making it more durable and resistant to rot.

One alternative to our standard timber cladding we offer is IRO timber cladding, a gorgeous prestained timber that comes in a range of colours and creates a striking addition to the garden.

Manufactured in Britain using a finely tuned seven-step process, IRO architectural cladding is a unique range designed to enhance all building exteriors. Inspired by the Japanese process of Yakisugi, IRO – which is Japanese for ‘colour’ – the cladding is 100% eco-friendly, UV stable and HVOC-free meaning the product is both child-friendly and pet-friendly.

We also work closely with selected partners to offer other specially coated timber options, Tiny Temple in Penicuick and Russwood, based in Newtonmore. Both of these suppliers have a range of cladding choices, all of which are pre-treated in their factory to provide a uniformed finish.
