Liam McIntyre joins the Outside In Team

It’s been an incredibly busy time in the Garden Room sector and, following a continued period of growth and demand for their stunning rooms, co Directors Mel Russell and Wendy Isaac recognised the time had come to bring in a key staff member to assist with this growth. 

Liam McIntyre therefore joins as Technical Director from his long term position as Branch Manager with Thornbridge Sawmills in Glasgow where he worked through the ranks from Assistant Manager in Sheildhall, to Branch Manager in Anniesland. There he oversaw the opening of the branch and managed the many challenges of the pandemic to establish the business as a recognised timber specialist in Glasgow. 

Founded in Glasgow in 2017 by Mel Russell, Outside In have since seen massive growth in the number of Garden Room builds. In 2021, Mel’s sister Wendy joined the business to establish an Edinburgh base and assist with growth plans. This growth across both Glasgow and Edinburgh led to a 245% year on year increase in room builds from 2020 to 2021, all through the massive challenges of the pandemic. This success was recognised with an FSB Award for Family Business of the Year in April 2022.

Liams' extensive expertise and knowledge of the timber and construction sectors will be an enormous boost to Outside In as they move into the next phase of growth. The business is looking to expand into new sectors, continue to explore and improve the sustainability of its buildings and evolve its manufacturing capabilities. As the business grows, Mel and Wendy find themselves needing additional expertise by their sides to support all operational and technical aspects which will allow them to focus on the bigger expansion goals, Liam fills that role perfectly.
